Even though we had both attended UT Austin and lived in The Village Apartments, we had never crossed paths. Luckily, after talking to Alex at a wedding in March of 2020, some mutual friends set us up. We went on our first date in April of 2020 - a walk in the M-Streets and to-go food/margaritas (thanks, pandemic!) on Alex's front porch.
Alex - Last summer Trenton and I went to Rome and fell in love with Italy (which is why we're going back for our honeymoon). On our last night there, we went to a quaint restaurant on a street near our Airbnb. The string lights, live music, fresh pasta, and overall ambiance made it my favorite night. Trenton - I'd say our most memorable date was a birthday gift from Alex. She bought us tickets to see one of my favorite bands, Turnpike Troubadours, at Red Rocks Amphitheater. It was one of the best concerts of my life with the best person in my life!
Alex - The answer to this question is easy: Trenton's unparalleled passion for Texas sports (mainly the Longhorns and the Rangers). I've listened to him rant about many, many games but have also seen him ecstatic when his teams pull out the win (never forget TX-OU 2022). Trenton - ^^^49-0!! Never forget. Anyways... it will be at the most random times, but Alex loves to make up songs about what she is doing. Most times, she'll sing them and do a little dance too. It's really cute.
This past fall, I was fortunate enough to purchase a house amidst the crazy Dallas real estate market. When I signed the dotted line I knew this wouldn't just be my house, but our house. Through some sneaky planning, I was able to convince Alex to come meet me at the new house for what she thought was a fancy dinner date. Luckily, she had no clue what was coming! As she walked in, I played her a song on the guitar and then got down on one knee. She said yes, and the rest is history!
Alex - I'm looking forward to having Trenton as my companion forever because he's my favorite person to spend time with. I'm excited to see the life/family we'll build together and the ways we'll help each other grow closer to God. Trenton - I'm thankful that God gives us marriage to model his love for us. I know it's not always going to be easy, but I'm looking forward to how Alex and I will grow closer to each other and to Christ, and hope that we can point others toward Him through our marriage. Also... indoctrinating kids to become die-hard Texas fans will be fun.
