I was on Hinge for about two months before I met Travis—he was the first and only person I met online that wasn’t from the DMV(NY/PA included)—yall know it’s the same. I would check my inbox a couple of times a day, and it was always flooded with messages from different guys—about 90 percent of those messages were garbage. For the other 10 percent, I had a least a first date. After two months of this, I decided Hinge wasn’t working out and I was going to reconsider moving forward. But before I got around to doing that, I was commiserating over the experience with a colleague and came across Travis’ profile for the 2nd time. I decided to send Travis a message, and I was a bit forward: I explained to him that I thought he was cute, that we seemed like we’d have a lot in common, and that I hadn’t had much luck at the time finding someone who wasn’t crazy or clingy, although it was very fun at times getting to know people. I shared that I had considered canceling my account and trying the old fashion way since COVID restrictions had begun relaxing. I gave him my Google Voice number and told him to text me if he wanted to get to know me better. He texted me later that day, and we exchanged texts for a few days before he asked me out on a date to play in the snow. When we finally met in person, he was amazing—better-looking than in his photos, and very well-mannered and chivalrous. He lived in Delaware at the time, so we met halfway in Havre de Grace at the Starbucks ☹ (American runs on Dunkin). Being from "The South" Travis was extremely excited about the snow. We’ve been together for 2 years, and we’re still going strong. Travis speaking : It all started with a conversation with GOD . . . At the time I was working away from home and the situation became pretty lonely. One day at work someone mentioned the social site "Hinge". So I gave it a shot. There were several applicants that glittered but weren't gold. Until . . . . I received a message from this beautiful lady wearing African print bell-bottom pants. (I despise African print #iykyk). Despite her attire, I decided to engage in conversation. SO HAPPY I DID !!! She was unlike any woman I had ever spoken to and had me hanging on every word. (Now I know she can talk for days). But I love it !!! After many late conversations, on the phone like teenage kids, I asked Lakeia out. I wanted someone who was as fun and outgoing as I am, so I suggested playing in the snow. Lakeia agreed immediately, and we met shortly thereafter in Harve De Grace. It was the midway point between Baltimore, Maryland, and Newark, Delaware. Now to my surprise and delight Lakeia actually came to play in the snow. She wore sweatpants, an army green jacket, a multi-colored scarf, and rain boots. She looked a bit scruffy, but it was the real her and not a representative - I Loved it and Love her even more for her dress-down days now. We played briefly in the snow and went to Starbucks and then Target, having great conversations the entire time. (Starbucks is way better than Dunkin BTW). We've been dating for a little over 2 years now . . . and each day I Thank God for answering my prayer!
