Bride
Dayna grew up in Northwest Indiana but it's New Castle that she now calls home. She is a leader in science communication, a role model for young learners, and the keenest thing on 8-wheels Travis has ever seen. Dayna is far more than her career and hobbies, though. Dayna is determined and strong and funny and incredibly smart. She motivates and inspires those around her because she surrounds herself with people who motivate and inspire her—like Travis. Dayna hates talking about herself (even though she's the best at it). Ask her instead about the ones she loves and watch her face light up.
Groom
Travis is excited to be married in New Castle, where he spent much of his life, to a woman who has his values, sense of humor, and his heart. Travis jumped into life head-first, working hard and taking on many responsibilities at a young age. He continues to work hard in life. He works to support those around him, like his daughters, and he works diligently to better himself in every step he takes. Travis is taking the next step to better himself by marrying the love of his life and is thrilled to celebrate with his friends and family. Talk to him and hear him champion the people and the projects in his life.
Mother of the Bride
Debbie is joining us from her home in Chesterton. She raised four girls—Dayna, her "Daisy May," was the baby. Debbie enjoys mystery novels and true crime, something that makes her an excellent judge of character. We hear that Debbie is excited to see her youngest get married to "such a good man."
Mother of the Groom
Trish is returning to her hometown of New Castle to see her oldest son, Travis, marry someone who makes him truly happy. She spent her life taking care of people—as an emergency room nurse and as a mother. Trish taught Travis how strong a woman can be, and he found those traits in Dayna.
Father of the Bride
Richard is joining us virtually during our celebrations from his home in Chesterton. Watching sci-fi like "Star Trek" and "Night of the Comet" together, he helped raise Dayna to be the strong, independent, and geeky woman that Travis fell in love with. Richard worked over 50 years of his life to provide for his 4 girls and continues to support them in their endeavors.
Man of Honor
Michael is Dayna's dear friend, colleague, and role model. The planetarium field brought them together and they stay connected through their shared interests, values, and lives. Feel free to ask Michael about Dayna, as he knows a lot of her secrets... or about Bigfoot, another topic he knows a lot about.
Best Woman
Amanda is Travis' sister from another mister. They cheer each other along through hard times and celebrate each other's big wins. Their dear mutual friend, Kell, introduced them and they are so grateful for that. Everyone in Amanda's village knows they can lean on her for support. She used to breathe fire, so you know she's pretty tough.
Officiant
Kurtis has been a part of Travis' life longer than most. Closer than a brother, Kurtis became a rock that Travis could count on for anything. Without Kurtis, Travis would have no idea he had a favorite Elvis song or who Carol Shelby was. We are honored to have Kurtis perform such a significant task in our lives.
Progeny of the Groom, Flower Person
Jay, the oldest of Travis' children, is joining us from their home in New Castle. Jay specifically asked to be the flower person and we are interested to see what this means. Make sure to ask Jay how roller derby is going—they started playing last year.
Daughter of the Groom
Elissa is Travis' youngest and is joining us all the way from her home in Arkansas. She's a senior this year and has a strong plan for her future. Elissa is a gifted artist—maybe she'll show you some photos of her paintings if you ask.
Sister of the Bride, Photographer
Alina is joining us from Valparaiso where she spends much of her time with her husband, Kris, and her two kids: Westin & Lila (Dayna's beloved nephew & niece). Being the oldest of the 4 Thompson girls, she is a true leader. Alina sets the tone for the family and makes family events like this one run smoothly.
Sister of the Bride
Krista is joining us from her home in Chesterton, which she shares with her husband Petar and clowder of cats. Dayna often tells people that almost everything cool about her comes from Krista. She taught Dayna not only how to be cool, but also how to navigate the world. Krista is a big fan of most sci-fi, especially Alien, and raising her chickens.
