Excuse Me

I have only grocery shopped on a Saturday twice. The first time was when I had to stock up for a Super Bowl party the next day and the second time was when I met my future wife. A year into a global pandemic and your entertainment options are slim: Watch another Jason Statham action movie, or shake things up and head to Trader Joe’s for a little Saturday night grocery run. Sorry Jason. As soon as I walked in, there she was, this beautiful young woman fully masked, with a basket of asparagus and wine, staring right at me (Omen #1). Or at least that's what I thought. She claims to have never noticed me. Regardless, it was the middle of the pandemic so I kept my cool and continued shopping. Oh well. UNTIL I finished paying for my groceries, turned to leave, and there she was again in the next check out line looking directly at me. (Omen #2) - which she maintains never happened and or doesn't remember. Regardless, it was the middle of the pandemic after all. So I kept my cool, smiled through my masks and pushed my cart to the elevators. BUT THEN, as I was pulling out I saw her loading her single bag of wine and asparagus into her car which was parked right next to mine (Omen #3). Yolo, I said to myself as I rolled my window down. “Excuse me?” See you all in Sri Lanka. - Justin
