How We Met

No great love story ever starts with a salad...

Our paths first crossed at one of the local watering holes in Auburn, Ca in October of 2015. A mutual friend of our's, the best man in our wedding, introduced us. I made the first move by adding him on Facebook and sent him a message. (I know, so romantic!) He replied back and we made plans for our first date at Dingus McGees for taco Tuesday. Tommy was so sweet and made our reservations for the nice dining room, but he didn't realize that meant we couldn't get tacos and margaritas. I think he was relieved when I was perfectly fine with moving out to the patio. We were out there for at least two hours, grilling each other with questions. I crack up just thinking about it. I'd say that date went pretty darn well because we have been together ever since and here we are getting ready for our wedding!

The Proposal

July 18, 2019

It all started on May 12th when Haley received tickets from me to a Miranda Lambert concert in South Lake Tahoe for her birthday. I had a plan to make this Haley's best birthday celebration ever. We hopped into the car and headed up to Tahoe City so we could stop by her favorite place to eat, Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge. Although I had a plan in mind, I missed one minor detail... how do I get the ring out from the back seat of the car and put the box in my pocket without her knowing? After some quick thinking and a little white lie about a headache, we were on our way into the restaurant. Once we were seated, we ordered drinks, and Haley got up to use the restroom. When she got back, I stood up and asked her to wait a second; I kneeled down on one knee and pulled out the ring, and asked, "Haley will you marry me?" The entire restaurant of around 100 people was dead silent and watching me with anticipation. Haley covered her mouth and started to cry, then after what seemed like 20 minutes, she said YES! Everyone in the building cheered and applauded us as we sat back down. Some very nice people came up to shake our hands and share some pictures they captured. Another couple paid for our meal, and the restaurant gave us complimentary celebration drinks. Once we left, we moved on to Emerald Bay, where we took some pictures. We finished off the perfect day with an amazing Miranda Lambert concert, surely a day neither of us will ever forget.
