I screamed in excitement when I first heard Toluwani share so passionately about storytelling. I knew I had found a friend! For the longest time, I have been a lone ranger at the intersection of things that matter to me: I had a few people who were passionate about storytelling but not about faith in Christ, and I had folks who truly witnessed for Christ but didn't really have a knack for storytelling. Getting close enough to Toluwani, especially as we worked together on a couple of projects, confirmed my first excitement. I was quick to introduce her to my community and inner circle. As time progressed, our friendship grew better and stronger. Founded on truth, vulnerability, and childlikeness, we were in our own worlds amidst a wild world. Toluwani soon gracefully broke through the ranks to become my best friend. She was the one, and I was constantly overjoyed that we shared similar convictions on literally everything. She majored on what I majored in and minored in places I didn’t place much emphasis on. However, just before Christmas, the Lord opened my eyes to see her in another light. Three times, I cried, “No, Lord. She deserves better. She deserves another. Not me.” But the Lord persuaded me with His word, and that has been my guide until today. Our union rests on His instruction, and I joyfully can’t wait to see what story the Lord is pleased to tell with our lives.
So, I picked up my beloved from the airport, and we planned to make a quick stop at his cousin's. Little did I know that a surprise awaited us! When we arrived, they asked us to wait outside, which piqued my curiosity. However, I didn't dwell too much on it and complied with their request. After a few moments, the door swung open, and to my astonishment, I saw the room adorned with "Will you marry me?" balloons and rose petals scattered everywhere. It was a breathtaking sight, and my heart started racing. At first, I thought, "Oh, someone must've had a romantic moment." But as I looked around, I noticed a camera recording the whole scene, and I realized that this was not just an ordinary visit. Suddenly, my beloved dropped to one knee, holding a dazzling ring, and my jaw practically dropped to the floor. They had orchestrated the most beautiful proposal, catching me completely off guard in the most delightful way possible. My emotions overflowed with joy, love, and surprise. In that magical moment, I knew all over again that saying yes to this man of my dreams would be a decision I'd gladly make over and over again, every single day, for the rest of my life. With bated breath and tears of happiness, I said yes without a second thought! Let me tell you, I'm grateful to God for this amazing blessing in my life. Our hearts are filled with love, and we are now ready and eager to embark on this beautiful adventure together. We can't wait to share this joyous next chapter in our lives with all of you. Your love and support mean the world to us. See you in Lagos!
