It was a sunny September afternoon when Maika's best friend, Cara, asked her over text if she was ready to meet someone new. Navigating the final swan song of a roller coaster relationship, she told her not quite yet. Cara gently persisted and suggested at least it would be nice to make a new friend. On September 16th, 2015, Maika and Toby met at Maika's favorite coffee shop, Toby got there first and offered over text to order her a drink and from that moment on, his thoughtfulness, openness, wit and flashy smile reeled her in. Maika's joyfulness, love of life, and smile hooked Toby and the sweet friendship began. What blossomed from that first meeting is what makes Maika and Toby's relationship so special: a deep connected friendship filled with gratitude and love. They shared stories of life, love, and pain, and opened up their hearts to each other, not knowing that a love was growing so quickly inside. They spent time together in their Eastlake neighborhood, cooking, exercising, enjoying coffee, and discovering a shared love for the Oregon Coast. As their love continued to grow, Toby plotted how to share what he was feeling with Maika; and what better place to share than a wedding! He wrote her a beautiful daily awakening and told her he'd fallen in love with her on May 28th, 2016. Since then, Maika and Toby have continued to grow and share their love, with Maika meeting the kids, more travels together, and finally, purchasing a new home to be together all under one roof. Their experience has been beautiful and amazing, and you are all important parts of the grateful live they live.
