Rural small town nearby with antique shops, restaurants, vineyards, and historic sites.
Bit of a drive (1 hour north of venue), but worth it. Picturesque, historic downtown area filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants. A favorite day-trip of ours.
Historic riverside community overflowing with eye-catching architecture, small businesses, and fresh seafood.
The Smithsonian has another Air and Space Museum near Dulles International Airport. Due to its location, it has something Washington, D.C. cannot accommodate - a massive hangar filled with historic aircraft/spacecraft and an observation tower where you can watch flights take off from IAD.
A great central location for those wanting to see our nation's capital. Within walking distance you'll find the Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, White House, Capitol, WWII/Vietnam/Korean War Memorials. Lining either side of the National Mall, you'll find the Smithsonian museums - always free. Some museums require (free) timed-entry passes to enter. These are available online at each museum's webpage. Plan ahead!
