Like most relationships these days, Kat and Tim matched on an online dating app. However, there was never an "official date" that came from this. After about 2 weeks of casual chatting, Tim and Kat both found themselves out on a Saturday afternoon in Dunedin with their friends. Realizing they were both in Dunedin, Tim offered to buy Kat a drink at her favorite Mexican restaurant, Casa Tina. Kat got her best friend PJ to come with her to meet Tim who was with his 2 friends, Gregg and Neal. Over a bowl of queso and a delicious margarita, Kat and Tim hit it off!

After 15 months of dating that was filled with lots of laughs, adventure, fun, and arguments over football, Tim decided to pop the question. What better place to propose than in the romantic country of Italy! While Kat had an inkling that a ring might be coming on this trip, she had no idea that Tim would ask her to marry her on the first night in Florence after being up for 36 hours from the time change. Kat had the bright idea to hike a mile up a steep hill while dressed up so they could go watch the sunset together (instead of taking an Uber). It was about halfway up when Tim took her in a different direction because there was "less people." At this time, she had an idea of what might be coming. When they got to the top of the hill, Tim looked around, announced "it's go time" and knelt down on one knee to ask Kat to marry him. Tim had hired a photographer before the trip that documented the whole thing! They were able to celebrate their engagement the rest of their trip! It was trip of a lifetime and a night they will never forget.
