It all began at church, in the choir. Tim had attended 1st Presbyterian Chattanooga for about four years, then joined the choir. Barbara had been a member for many years and also sang in the choir. They both had noticed each other, and after several months began to wonder if the other were single. Time passed till Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 after church we met in the middle of the road and Tim asked Barbara if she would like to have lunch at Tony's restaurant. There was this funny moment as we waved at traffic coming at us from both directions while we talked. We enjoyed our lunch and conversation and had our first official date the following Friday at Alleia's restaurant. That was the the beginning of a wonderful adventure full of singing, talking, traveling, and just being together.
I (Tim) knew we were travelling to Guatemala to visit friends and was hoping to make a proposal very special. Unbeknownst to Barb, I had a custom engagement ring in the works,. Due to some delays I was not able to pick up the ring until the afternoon we were leaving. I made an excuse about a quick errand, picked up the ring, and got it unseen all the way to Panajachel for the proposal, at sunset, on a beautiful lake, in a huge heart, and she said yes! However I could barely hear her over the clapping and cheering crowd of Guatemalan onlookers, and the delighted screams of our dear friend :)
