Week After - NYC Experience

Cheri will be taking time off work after the wedding to spend with family and friends who would like to stay and experience NYC. We will head back to Weehawken, NJ (right outside of the Lincoln Tunnel) from the hotel in Belvidere on Sunday, September 10. We will likely stay in NJ that day, but starting Monday, we will have some NYC options. Please text Cheri and let her know if you plan to stay a few days later, and how long you can stay! We may book an Airbnb with many bedrooms for people to share (and split the cost), if we get enough interest, in the Weehawken/Hoboken area. If you plan to join in the week-after fun, please book your flight in and out of EWR. You likely will not need a rental car for this portion, as we will be taking public transit in and out of NYC. I've listed some ideas for things to do below. While we likely will not do all of these things, if you are staying and want to do one (or have a suggestion not on this list), let me know so I can make it happen!

Weehawken Dueling Grounds and Waterfront

Weehawken, NJ 07086

The 9/11 lights will be out this whole weekend. We recommend you view from a lookout spot in Weehawken, Hoboken, or Jersey City!

Mets Game - Monday, September 11, 2023

41 Seaver Way, Queens, NY 11368

We will try to do a Mets game on Monday, September 11.

Statue of Liberty

New York, NY 10004

Liberty and Ellis Island can be reached from Jersey City, NJ. We can head over there anytime during the week.

Top of The Rock

30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112

Top of the Rock is always a fun time!

Freedom Tower

Fulton Street, New York, NY 10006

The freedom tower is a great downtown experience. We will not go on September 11, as it will be crowded (they read the names of all of the 9/11 victims in the morning at the time the planes hit the towers and many New Yorkers gather to observe and mourn). Anytime Tuesday on is fine.

9/11 Memorial & Museum

180 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007

This is a bit heavier of an activity, but the memorial museum is so well put together. A true tribute to those we lost in 2001. It is also very educational, but again, a bit heavy.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

1000 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10028

This is well paired with Central Park, as it actually sits on the Central Park grounds. This museum never disappoints.

Central Park

New York, NY

I don't think I need to explain what this is, haha

Broadway

Broadway, New York, NY

If we have enough interest, I will inquire about group rates to the theater. There are many good shows playing, but this is a more expensive option, typically ($100-200/pp). If you've never experienced a Broadway show, I would highly recommend seeing one!

The PIT

154 West 29th Street, New York, NY 10001

This is an improv theater. Some of the best shows I've seen in NYC have been at this theater. It is amatuer talent, but shows run $10-20/pp so it is a more affordable option. Not all shows are good, but most are at least pretty funny.

Ellen's Stardust Diner

1650 Broadway, New York, NY 10019

This is a famous 'singing waitress' diner. They do not take reservations, so most of the time there is a substantial wait, but it's dinner and a show (essentially).

Yankee Stadium

1 East 161 Street, Concourse, NY 10451

The Yankees are going to be in town this week as well, so we could see a game here (as Red Sox and Mets fans, Tim and I are NOT Yankees fans). Aaron Judge is always a treat to see play, as well as some of the Yankees younger talent.

For all the days along the way
