For now, due to capacity limitations, only the guests included on the invite envelope are expected at the wedding.
No, US and EU citizens don't need a visa, or any vaccines/inoculations. Yes, you need a passport! Make sure your passport is valid 6 months post-travel, or they will not let you get on the plane. ***This means that your passport expiration date must be dated after September 8, 2025 (or later, depending on your departure date from Cartagena)***
Cartagena is a 600 year old city, and with it comes very old infrastructure. We do not recommend drinking the tap water, though it will be suitable to brush teeth and shower. Bottled water is widely available at all hotels/restaurants.
Most restaurants, hotels, bars, etc. accept credit cards. We recommend having a small amount of cash (Colombian Pesos) on hand for shopping, food vendors, taxis, etc. The exchange rate from USD is very favorable. There are many ATMs throughout the city.
In Colombia, it is standard for the waiter to ask at the end of the meal if you would like to include “servicio” or "propina" which refers to a tip for the service. If you opt in to this, a standard 10% tip will be added to your bill before you receive it. Sometimes this will be included on the bill without asking beforehand. No additional tip is expected. That said, if you sign up for a tour or another activity, we recommend tipping the guides.
