Cody & I were in the same Calculus class in high school. I was a junior, he was a senior. We knew of each other, but ran with completely different crews. All I knew was that a boy who sat on opposite sides of the room was really smart & handsome. I secretly always wanted him to tutor me, but never had the nerve to say anything! Fast forward about 6 years... I was playing in a mud volleyball tournament (everyone looking oh so attractive after playing in mud pits like pigs), and Cody was playing on a different team with some of his friends. I had just finished playing a game, soaking wet, and I heard my name being yelled from a few courts over. Of course I recognized the cute guy, but could not remember his first name to save my life. Cody, his friend Kiel, and I stood there talking for a good while and all I could do was just stare and smile like a goober haha! A few days went by, and I was bummed I didn't catch his number. I received a random message on Facebook one day from Cody just starting casual conversation. That's how we texted for the longest time because it took about 6 weeks for him to ask for my phone number (it's okay - nervous is cute!), and our first official date was to play sand volleyball at the city park... man after my own heart! The rest is history & I wouldn't trade our journey for the world! - Tiff -
Every summer, my family & I vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. On July 3rd, 2018, we embarked on the same family vacay, except this time my 'boyfriend' was joining us! Later that week, we were going to be celebrating our anniversary on July 9th. A few hours after arriving, we all went up to the top of the resort to the Sky Pool, overlooking miles and miles of the Pacific Ocean, where the next piece of land, looking due south, would be Antarctica. After taking a bunch of cute pics and enjoying the views, Cody wanted to exchange gifts a little early but wanted it to be just us two. On the way down to the beach, we stopped by our room to get each other's gifts. Cody was rambling nonstop about the most random things the entire way (which is so funny because he does this every time he gets super excited about something). I wanted to keep telling myself "oh man it's happening," but then kept switching back to "no no he's just excited we're on vacay." We finally got down to the beach and sat down in the sand by the most beautiful rocks at the very tip of Cabo, with 8-foot swells crashing in front of us. He started reading me a book that he wrote about our relationship so far and had me in tears from the beginning.. He titled it "Our Journey." Each page was about something we love doing together, along with a simple illustration to go with it. The last page popped the big question.. he walked me out towards the water and got down on one knee. I was an absolute mess! Cody's whole idea for the proposal was so thoughtful and a complete surprise, definitely a moment I will never forget! <3
