It was a Saturday evening in Ocala, Florida. We were planning a date for a church committee meeting. We were both brainstorming ideas to present at the meeting. But there were also some fun things to do before the meeting, and we had a great time chatting. I had missed church one Sunday and got a friendly text, “Missed you in church today.” I replied, “I’m glad someone missed me.” As I asked for suggestions for the meeting, I got a text asking if I wanted to go to dinner. The funny thing is that I fell asleep and didn’t see the text until hours later. I agreed to go to dinner. We talked and laughed like we had known each other for years. I was really impressed by how kind and gentlemanly he was. He picked me up for dinner, opened my car door, and pulled the chair out for me to sit. That’s when I asked him out to dinner and dance the following week. We sat at the table laughing at others dancing. We decided to get on the 360 machine and had the time of our lives. Our laughter was contagious, and I couldn’t help but smile. It turned out we had a lot in common. We both loved the Lord, enjoyed nature, enjoyed exploring new places, and had a shared passion for helping others. As the afternoon turned into evening, we found ourselves still talking, completely lost in each other’s company. Before we knew it, the party was over. As he drove me home, we decided to start dating and promised to meet up again. Those few days marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship that eventually blossomed into something more.
