Ali and Dylan met at work in Sept 2018, when Ali was hired as Dylan's supervisor. The job only lasted 2 months for Ali, but they are both convinced it's because her only purpose there was to meet Dylan. The friendship started thanks to a coworker adding them to a group text she liked to call, "the cool kids table". Within their first text conversation, as Ali quickly learned what a genuinely good man Dylan is, she jokingly said, "Where have you been?" Dylan had recently gone through a break up after 5 long years and Ali was separated from her husband because he had been unfaithful. Neither of them were looking for each other when they happened to find each other. In fact, at the time, Ali swore to their coworker that she would never date Dylan because she couldn't picture herself with him, even though she knew he already liked her. After several months of friendship at work and through text, Dylan had offered to take Ali on a date but she declined, feeling her heart wasn't quite ready. Weeks later, Ali determined she was willing to give things a shot so she accepted Dylan's offer and they went on their first date to a movie. After dating for several weeks, while texting one night, the question arose whether or not they were in a relationship. Upon evaluating the nature of their interaction together, it was decided they were in fact in a relationship and their official anniversary got stamped as 12/3/18. They moved in together about 2 months later, but they each found themselves still healing the wounds from their previous relationships and they broke up briefly. Through the breakup they remained friends and still spent much of their time together. Dylan was determined to win Ali back and he did exactly that! Ali couldn't help but to be completely in love with Dylan and they got back together a month later.
