Things To Do

We've put together a list of some of our favorite spots.

Lua Brewing

1525 High Street, Des Moines, IA 50309

One of Des Moines' finest craft breweries and smash burgers. Bonus: it's right around the corner from our favorite dive, Carl's Place.

Des Moines' Downtown Farmers’ Market

300 Court Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309

If you're in town on Saturday morning, you can't miss the Des Moines Farmers Market. Just steps away from the Surety, it sprawls through the Historic Court District. Expect live music, lots of food, dog watching, and crowds. Grab a coffee and a pastry or breakfast burrito so you're ready to celebrate later in the day.

The Bartender's Handshake

3615 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312

This quaint cocktail spot was the site of our first date. It's also where Tom drank up the courage to pop the question the night he proposed. We love the unique drinks and always-on-point soundtrack.

St. Kilda Cafe & Bakery

300 Southwest 5th Street, Des Moines, IA 50309

A favorite brunch spot and a quick walk from downtown Des Moines. Might be just the ticket on Sunday morning.

Up-Down DSM

500 East Locust Street, Des Moines, IA 50309

Arcade games and a pretty extensive tap list. Plus cheap pizza slices. Get in the door early on Friday night for free tokens (then join us at our welcome party).

Eatery A

2932 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312

Daily happy hour from 2-6 is the best deal in town. The pizza is good too.
