We have known each other (almost) all our lives. Since early elementary school, our families have lived in the same neighborhood in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Hannah’s brother, Josh, and Michael have been friends as far back as Michael can remember, and Michael and Hannah’s families soon became close friends. While the details on the exact moment that Michael and Hannah met are fuzzy, each remember the other as often-present through each other’s childhood, including ski trips to Sunriver, crabbing on the Pacific Coast, and a vacation in Maui as (awkward) teenagers, together.
In April 2020, both Hannah and Michael were surviving quarantine at home in Lake Oswego with family. With subtle encouragement from her Mother, Hannah messaged Michael and reconnected, and the conversation never stopped. Fast forward through many Mario Kart battles, heated rivalry football games, and the adoption of our cat, Leonard, we can definitely say we love the life we’ve created together.
On a cold trip to Seattle, Michael planned a day filled with tours around iconic Seattle locations, letting us act as tourists in a city we both know so well. And on the final stop of the day, at Kerry Park (one of Hannah’s favorite viewpoints), Michael got on one knee. The rest of the day feels like a blur, with smiles, hugs, and a few happy tears. A dinner with close friends filled with laughter and smiles all round concluded the perfect day. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you all!
