February 22nd

Special day, not just because it's National Margarita Day ;)

Cody was gone on Valentines Day on a snowmobile trip. He returned on February 22nd with 2 dozen roses and said those 3 sweet words "I Love You"! for the first time! <3 Even more special to us is that 2024 marks 10 years together, since we started dating a decade ago. We haven't always done things the same as everyone else, but to us a wedding on this memorable day, significant year, in a tropical location, and having all our family and friends present to celebrate LOVE and TOGETHERNESS couldn't be more PERFECT! You have all touched our lives, been there along the way, and have impacted us in some way, shape or form! We can't even express how much is means to us to have you there with us on our wedding day!

How We Met

Love at First Sand Wrestle

It was the Summer of 2014 and I had just moved back home from college and started playing sand volleyball. I was subbing for another team and there was this incredibly good looking guy on the team named Cody. Bonus, he was really good at volleyball. I’d continue to see Cody in passing every Sunday at volleyball, luckily he wasn’t shy, because he’d always make a point to say hi and chat before and after our games. I remember one night after volleyball, we sat at a picnic table and ended up talking for hours. Another night after the games, Cody somehow convinced me to wrestle with him in the sand. If you’re wondering who won, it was Cody, and no he didn’t let me win lol! That night he messaged me on Facebook because we hadn’t traded phone numbers yet. He asked if I got all the sand out of my hair ;) A week later we ended up exchanging numbers. We started texting and volleyball Sundays quickly became my favorite day of the week. Cody didn’t waste any time asking me out on a date. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it was perfect. We went to a local bar called Bushwoods, had a couple beers, and stayed out past our bedtimes. I guess you could say the rest is history. -Brooke We met years ago at volleys. Brooke was a sub on our volleyball team and I instantly had a crush. After several times of seeing her at volleys and being flirty I was picking on her and ended up wrestling her in the sand. Which is odd because I never played sports in high school but she was a personal trainer and I wanted to seem athletic. We messaged a little but on messenger and then one night at rock bar I got her number and the flirting continued. We had our first date at bushwoods bar because I knew if we got too drunk we could walk to my house. Over the next few months I would ask her to come over to my house to stay even if I had to sweet talk her into it. She ended up staying at my place more than half of every week. -Cody

The Proposal

Hike with a Happy Ending

We were in Colorado for my best friend’s wedding. The proposal was the day after the wedding celebration. Let’s just say I stayed until bar close and did not wake up feeling like a million bucks. Cody was up early, showered, and clothed when I got up - not super typical of Cody when he’s on vacation and has nowhere to be, but I didn’t think too much of it. He told me to shower, it’d make me feel better, and he was going to go grab me a new, fresh towel. I thought, how sweet and I wonder what’s got him in such a good mood! So, I showered and got dressed into something comfy. Cody told me we were going for a hike that morning with our newly wedded friends. I thought, oh please no, a coffee and advil sound like my kinda morning. I let him know I wasn’t super up for that plan, but he reassured me it was a flat hike and there were breathtaking views at the end. I thought to myself, where in the heck is there a flat place to hike in Colorado? I agreed to go if we got coffee on the way. So, Cody, our friends, and my mom went on this “flat hike”. We stopped so I could get a coffee and berry muffin. I was super confused because no one else got anything. We got back to our “hike”, more so a walk around the village, and the muffin was so messy that my hands were stained purple from the berries in it. Everyone seemed so concerned, now looking back it makes sense. We arrived at a beautiful bridge with a gorgeous backdrop, so we decided to take some pics. It took forever, but little did I know Cody was grabbing the ring from the backpack. When it was Cody and I’s turn to take a photo together, he then turned to me and started telling me how much he loves me and that he couldn’t live his life without me in it. I remember my heart beating faster than ever before, knowing at that moment Cody was about to propose. He then got down on one knee, opened the ring box and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t even form words and was trying not to cry, so I nodded my head yes and we kissed and hugged. Cody finally put the ring on my finger, and it was truly the most beautiful ring he could ever get me. We popped champagne to celebrate our engagement! -Brooke I kept very tight lipped on the proposal. After many years of making Brooke wait, I finally decided I had all my ducks in a row and to finally do it. The first person to know it was coming was Nick, other than the jeweler. We were at Sarah and Ty’s wedding and Nick was talking about his relationship and had asked me when I was going to propose. I showed him a picture of the ring and said very soon. The next person to know was Brooke’s mom, who I had asked for her blessing when I stopped by on my way to go buy clothes because I left pants at home. I then called my parents to inform them and texted my siblings. I wanted to ask Brooke somewhere other than back home, that would be memorable and exciting, so I waited until after our friend’s wedding and got their blessing to propose while we were still in Colorado. While Brooke was getting ready, I was pacing around, I think she knew something was up because I was anxious and couldn't sit still. I had Sarah and Ty's help, as I knew hungover Brooke wasn’t gonna go for a walk hungover without persuasion. While Brooke stopped to grab coffee, I couldn’t stop pacing, I couldn’t wait to pop the question. We made it to the bridge where I was planning to ask Brooke. We took photos of them and they took photos of us. They knew the drill. Act like you wanna retake the photo and take video instead. That's when I got down on one knee in front of her mom and two of her best friends and proposed. We celebrated with Champagne. It didn’t take long for the news to spread when everyone saw Brooke with a ring on her finger. -Cody
