Their story began in August of 2018. Emily and Tyler are both in the Navy, and Tyler works onboard the USS Bonhomme Richard which is homeported in San Diego, CA. Emily works as an x-ray tech on a fleet surgical team, and in August she was told she would be working aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard as their x-ray tech. After a hectic Monday morning, she got lost on the ship and was starting to get nervous. When she finally found the medical department everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and that was where she met Tyler. For Emily it was love at first sight; his firm handshake, rugged mustache and handsome smile just about did her in. With x-rays being few and far between on the ship, after the first couple days Tyler was assigned to teach her how to be a sickcall corpsman. That’s where the love sparked. Not only was Tyler a great teacher, but wow did he have a great sense of humor! The two of them just clicked and genuinely had so much fun joking around and getting to know eachother. When Emily started talking about the volunteer work she was doing with the San Diego River Park Foundation, Tyler expressed interest and put his email and phone number in her phone. A couple of months flew by as they spent Saturday’s volunteering and week days working together. Finally affer they got back from a three week long underway to San Francisco for Fleet Week in October, Tyler asked Emily to be his girlfriend, and they have been happy together ever since.
