How We Met

Ohio to Arizona

Christina and Matt originally met in grade school. They knew of each other, as Matt played soccer with her brothers, JP and Michael. They reconnected after graduating college while both were living in Columbus. Matt was working as an accountant for Huntington Bancshares and Christina as a special education teacher at Brown Elementary for Hilliard City Schools. Their love story began with Matt reaching out and inviting Christina to a Columbus Crew soccer game. Unfortunately, Christina was unable to attend, but soon after they met for drinks at High Bank Distillery and Local Cantina. The two hit it off and quickly became inseparable. They decided to do long distance as Matt moved to Arizona for flight school. After 10 long months of traveling back and forth to see one another, Christina found a job and joined Matt in Chandler, AZ.

The Proposal

7.25.20

Christina and Matthew got engaged in the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, AZ. Matt surprised Christina with the trip the weekend before her family's annual Kelley's Island weekend. Christina had been suspicious that he was planning to propose at the island house since both families would be there, so Matt decided to use that along with the fact that she had been asking to go back since the first time they hiked Bell Trail as a cover. The day started with Matt flying Christina for the first time together in his new plane. The flight consisted of soaring heights and breathtaking views. Once they landed, they drove to a trail overlooking Cathedral Rock. Matt hired an awesome cowboy named Stacy, who acted as their personal tour guide and photographer. He had a killer accent and is also an aspiring country singer! Once they got to the top and the sun began to set behind Cathedral Rock, Matthew dropped down on one knee and popped the question!
