How We Met

4.13.21

More like how did we not meet! The strange, “meant to be” tale starts long before we actually sat down at a brewery together for the first time… After a year in Texas, Cam transferred back home to play baseball at Seattle U. Little did he know, Anne had already made the leap to Seattle U from her hometown of San Jose to study nursing. Now living in the same city, at the same school of 4,000ish students, Cam and Anne inched closer together, crossing only blocks and intersections apart. During Cam’s first year at SU, he met Kat (Anne’s best friend), hi’s and bye’s mostly, but nonetheless, it never brought the two together. Heading into their 3rd year of college, the two moved into the same apartment building, on the same floor, just a few doors apart. Anne was even next-door neighbors with two of Cam's friends, Sean and Jack, but still, they never met. Anne graduated in 2017 and although she enjoyed her time at SU, she was ready to move out of Capitol Hill and landed on 61st street in Ballard… Meanwhile, Cam was finishing up his victory lap at SU, playing his last season and graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering. Fast forward 3 years… Cam began his house hunt with his best friend, Josh. After countless failed tours, Cam and Nancy (Josh’s mom), stumbled upon an unlisted house and to much of their relief—finally won a house on 61st street… in Ballard. While on the way to the final inspection, Cam’s phone buzzed, with a silly dating app notification. Though this time, the first picture was of a pretty blonde girl, and the second, the same girl, but with an old college friend, Kat—who Cam hadn’t seen in years… Cam and Anne spent the next week texting nearly nonstop, learning of all the connections and 1 degree of distance they had had for years. They soon went on their first date to Obec, a local brewery. While neither can recall quite what they talked about, it was comfortable and easy, leading into a second round of drinks and their second date planned for the very next day. The criss-cross of life finally ended exactly where it was supposed to, at the perfect time, and with the perfect pair.
