Thanks to Ellen's older sister, Emily, Paul and Ellen met in early January 2022. On their first date, they met at Genuine Joe's Coffee. Paul, who strongly dislikes coffee to this day, pretended he was enjoying his beverage as they talked for many, many hours. The evening was full of conversations about family, friends, faith, food, and Formula 1. Ultimately, they made plans to meet up again. From that moment on, it was hard to catch them apart from each other. Paul and Ellen quickly recognized the significance and how special the relationship was after meeting. From exploring local donut shops to Parisian bakeries, flipping kayaks into Lady Bird Lake and going on bike rides, these two have made some incredible memories. They are looking forward to a lifetime of shared adventures together.

Paul managed to successfully surprise Ellen with a beautiful proposal on November 26th, 2022 in Austin, TX. After being in quarantine with COVID-19 all week, Paul took Ellen on a picnic at Auditorium Shores (the location of one of their first dates!) that afternoon. After a tasty picnic of croissant sandwiches, fruit salad, and chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels, Paul decided it was time to ask the question. Ellen had been wearing his jacket the entire picnic, completely clueless that the ring was in the pocket the whole time! She was completely dumbfounded when Paul got down on one knee. There were many happy tears! Luckily, Ellen's younger sister, Erin, was there to capture the moment.
