We both wanted to improve our second language so we took part in a language exchange, a very popular event in an international city like Madrid. The basic idea is to meet up with someone and speak half of the time in one language and half of the time in another. We got along really well and kept organizing language exchanges, which eventually turned into dates! Almost 7 years have passed, but we are still helping each other master the other's native language.

Ambos queríamos mejorar nuestra segunda lengua, así que nos apuntamos a un intercambio de idiomas, algo que es muy común en una ciudad internacional como Madrid. Básicamente consiste en quedar con alguien y hablar la mitad del tiempo en un idioma y la otra mitad en el otro. Nos encontramos muy cómodos desde el principio y seguimos organizando estos intercambios, ¡hasta que se convirtieron en citas! Han pasado casi 7 años, pero seguimos ayudándonos el uno al otro a perfeccionar el idioma.

We went to the city of Granada for a weekend getaway. It's a really romantic city with white-washed buildings, great food and the famous Alhambra Palace. We were walking around when Jaime found a spot with incredible views and no one else around. He popped the question and we celebrated with a fabulous dinner overlooking the city. A few weeks later, my dad came to Madrid and brought my grandma's ring with him. My grandma met my grandpa while she was teaching adult Spanish classes, and we are getting married on their anniversary. It makes me feel more connected than ever to them. Jaime definitely created a wonderful memory for us both.

Fuimos a la ciudad de Granada para una escapada de fin de semana. Es una ciudad verdaderamente romántica con edificios singulares, excelente comida y el famoso palacio de la Alhambra. Estábamos dando un paseo cuando Jaime encontró un lugar con vistas increíbles y nadie alrededor. Lanzó la pregunta y lo celebramos con una fabulosa cena con vistas a la ciudad. Unas semanas después, mi padre viajó a Madrid y trajo el anillo de mi abuela. Ella había conocido a mi abuelo mientras daba clases de español para adultos, y además nos vamos a casar en su aniversario. Eso me hace estar unida a ellos más que nunca. Jaime creó un recuerdo maravilloso para los dos.
