We kindly request that you submit your replies using the RSVP tab on our website by October 1st, 2023. Thank you for your cooperation.
We regret to hear that you will not be able to attend. We would appreciate it if you could kindly let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Thank you for your understanding.
We invite you to visit the Flight + Hotel tab for more information on accommodation options. Our recommendation is to stay at the Sofitel Santa Clara, where the reception will be held. However, there are plenty of other hotels and Airbnbs in the city, so please ensure your accommodations are in the Old City within the walls. If you wish to inquire about room block accommodation, please contact Ana.figueroa@sofitel.com. We have listed some hotels that we recommend for your convenience: - Sofitel Santa Clara - Hotel Charleston - Hotel Casa Don Luis
We have a limited number of rooms blocked at the Sofitel Santa Clara which is the only 5-star hotel in the Old City of Cartagena. As such, rooms can get booked up quickly, so we would advise you to visit the Travel tab for more information on accommodations as soon as possible.
Upon arriving at the airport, please inquire with the airport employees regarding a yellow taxi. It is the most common form of transportation to the city centre, and should take approximately 15-20 minutes. For reference, the cost should be no more than $30,000 Colombian Pesos, or $8 USD. Uber is available; though, less common and longer wait time should be expected.
Currently, if you have been fully vaccinated (one dose of Johnson & Johnson or two doses of Moderna & Pfizer) you may present your vaccination card as proof of immunization to gain entry to Colombia. If you have not been fully vaccinated or have only received one dose of the vaccine, you will need to provide a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of your flight to Colombia. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Good news! The United States is no longer requiring a COVID test for those returning to the United States.
We recommend carrying a small amount of cash in addition to a credit card when travelling to Colombia, as many places only accept cash. ATM's and Currency Exchange locations are also available throughout the city for easy access to the local currency, the Colombian Peso (COP). When paying with a credit card, you may be asked "En cuantas Cuotas?" (How many payments?). Customers in Colombia given the choice to divide the payment over one to 24 months. Foreign cardholders should just say "unavailable" (or one).
It is our understanding that most cell phone providers offer international plans that will enable the use of your phone while you are in Colombia. Additionally, it is likely that most restaurants, bars, and hotels provide free WiFi access. We recommend that you contact your cell phone provider prior to your travel to ensure you have the necessary services.
Welcome Dinner: Smart Casual / Tropical Chic Cocktail Party: Tropical Chic Ceremony and Reception: Black Tie-Recommended Tropical Chic Attire- Tropical chic is achievable by mixing textures, intricate patterns, vivid pops of color and large-sized accessories with simple details. Black tie recommended is a dress code that requires guests to dress up, but it is slightly less formal than black tie. For women, a black tie optional wedding typically requires a full-length dress. For men, a tuxedo is preferred, but not required – a nice suit works too.
We kindly request that women refrain from wearing white or any variation of it for all events. Men are permitted to wear white shirts; though, shorts are not allowed.
We have secured a team of hair stylist and makeup artist throughout the weekend events. Please contact Diego Portada +57 304-674-3452 to book directly. Appointments will be serviced at the Sofitel salon.
The Welcome Dinner will be held indoors. The Cocktail Party will be held on a rooftop. The Ceremony and Reception will be held indoors with a brief outdoor Cocktail Hour in between these events.
Walking is an efficient way to get around the walled city, due to the narrow, one-way streets that can become congested. However, car service, carriage, and taxis are also readily available. Taxis are a great option when you don't want to walk, when you need to leave the walled city (such as to go to the airport), or are dressed up for the evening. It is important to note that taxi fares in Cartagena do not have taximeters, so be sure to ask and agree on a fare ahead of time to avoid any surprises at the end of your ride. Generally, taxi fares are $15,000 COP ($4-6 USD) to most spots within the walled city.

The cobblestone streets are vibrant and filled with tourists during the day. If you decide to explore the town within the walled city, here are some helpful tips and tricks to keep in mind: 1. Be assertive when dealing with salespeople. If you have no intent on buying, politely say "No, thank you" and keep walking. Avoid touching any merchandise, as you may be expected to purchase it. 2. Remember that any entertainment provided by rappers will need to be paid for, even if it was unsolicited. 3. Photos with the Palenqueras, or fruit ladies, will also require payment per person in the photo.
