1. You can download the Google-fi app with an E-Sim and get a cheap plan for the time you will be here. Google-fi gets cheaper the more people you add onto your plan 2. The Airalo App also allows you to get an E-Sim and you buy GB’s as needed that will suit your amount of time here 3. Most likely a more expensive option but you can also ask your current phone company for an international plan
Yes almost everywhere accepts credit card! Your credit cards will also compute the current currency rate. You can also pull out the local currency called “Yen” at all confidence stores, if you would like to use cash. Most banks also refund the small charge for pulling cash out of ATM’s.
Tipping is not required or recommended in Japan. You do not need to tip at restaurants, bars, hotels or any drivers. If you really like your server at a bar or restaurant then you can buy them a drink, either alcohol or pop or tea!
Public transportation in Japan is extremely safe, clean, and accessible! Google maps works wonderfully here. You can type in where you want to go from your current location and then click the walking, driving or bus/train option and it will give you very clear directions and instructions to get to your destination.
Okinawa is definitely known for they’re amazing and fresh seafood but if you’re not a fan that is okay! There is beyond enough meat, vegetables and tofu options for you to eat! Japan is also known for their Fried chicken called Karaage, their yakitori which is grilled meat skewers including: chicken, beef, veggies, pork and more. There is plenty of food options here to fulfill all your needs!
In April it will be around 75 during the day and then around 70 at night. Tattoos are okay in most places in Okinawa. Some hotels have restrictions on tattoos while you are in their pool but they will have it listed on their website. Usually if their is a restriction you can just wear a swim shirt or you can put a skin colored patch over your tattoo to cover it. Sometimes these patches are provided at the hotel.
