September 2022: We were at the same wedding and Jocelyn came to say hi at Brendan's table. While just a brief hello, one of Brendan's friends proposed, "Why don't you go for her?" They laughed it off, but little did we know... February 4, 2023: While on a trip to watch the Knicks lose to Paul George and the Clippers (irrelevant but Brendan wanted me to include that), our matchmaker dropped a few casual hints to Brendan about Jocelyn. February 25, 2023: Our matchmaker invited us out to dinner together. Brendan couldn't make it (I think I was just being shy), so instead hints were dropped to Jocelyn about her and Brendan's potential compatibility. The first week of March 2023: Finally, an opportunity had presented us to meet. Brendan had heard of a party, but was not planning on going. UNTIL... our matchmaker told him Jocelyn was the DJ (one of my short lived hobbies). "That was all I needed to hear," says Brendan, so he made a brief appearance at the party. Unbeknownst to Jocelyn, she played all of Brendan's favorite songs. Clearly, a party with a dj with headphones on wasn't the ideal spot to get to know someone. There was only one encounter. At the end of the night (actually like an hour and a half after the party started (he doesn't like parties)), he came up to her to compliment her DJ skills. He had another agenda too. Right before he left, he handed her his phone with the "add new contact" screen already opened. (Spoiler: I gave him my number). *1 Week Later*: We occasionally texted about our newfound shared interest - music. Brendan went on and on about the Weeknd. We even made each other playlists. It started as friends but Brendan shortly realized, with a little help from friends, this could be something more. The realization: Brendan was in California hanging with some friends at 10pm. While everyone was talking, he couldn't stop replying to Jocelyn's text messages. One of guys said, "Man, she must really like you, it is 1 am in Connecticut right now." Eventually, our conversations evolved from music to something deeper. We realized how much we had in common. By then, "the jig was up" (direct quote from Jocelyn). And here we are now... we officially started dating June 8, 2023 and Brendan proposed exactly a year later June 8, 2024. Of all these dates, the one we are the most excited about is February 28, 2025. We cannot wait to begin our lives together and add countless chapters to our love story.
