Maredsous Abbey is one of Theo's favorite places to go when visiting home. Located about 30 minutes from Namur and founded in 1872 by Benedictine monks, Maredsous Abbey is characteristic of a neo-Gothic architectural style which harmonizes perfectly with the wooded and hilly nature of the region. The Abbey is now known as an amazing brewery that produces delicious Maredsous beer and cheeses. Their beers ripen in caves for two months before being sold and they blend perfectly with Maredsous cheese.
Brussels, the capital of Belgium, is located approximately 55 minutes from Namur. It's a city bursting at the seams with life and diverse culture. You'll find something for everyone in Brussels and you'll never get bored. Even if you only plan on visiting for a day, there are plenty of things that you can fit in.
