We met the beginning of our senior fall semester at Liberty. We both weren't looking for relationships, and if anything, doing everything we can to not date during our senior years. My best friend's (MOH, Aly) family friend from home had a friend (Groomsman, Calvin) who went to Liberty who I became friends with my junior year. Being friends with him then connected Kris and I together, as we were at Liberty the same 3 years, but our paths never joined until then. Kris was graduating in Dec 2020 with plans to become an Officer in the Marine Corps May of 2021. Through getting to knowing each other and going on dates there were a few times (this is where we boo' Mikayla) I had to take a step back from being with him because I was hesitant about committing to someone going into the military so soon after meeting. But after over 3 months of Kris pursuing me faithfully, and together deciding to take a leap and trust God with our relationship, Kris and I became official. Something in my heart knew that somehow it would all work out, even with all the uncertainties. Then only after a month of being official we were long distance as Kris graduated and pursued a Masters' Certificate as he was waiting to go to OCS (Officer Candidacy School for the Marine Corps) and I was finishing up at Liberty. Within 2 weeks of my Spring Senior semester, Kris got a few calls pushing off his start date for OCS. It went from May, to August, to MAYBE starting in October of 2021 due to the classes being messed up from COVID. He then began applying for jobs, and found himself moving to Maryland in May of 2021. I moved home to NY, and we continued being long distance. I ended up disliking my job in NY, and applied to jobs in NY, and one in VA. I got the one in VA and moved to Arlington in December of 2021. So after a full year of being long distance God placed us just an hour away. Over the 3 years we have been together, we have seen God change our lives as we surrendered our control and gave Him the pen to write our story and have His will in our relationship. We serve a faithful and loving God who has provided for us greatly as we have trusted and prioritized Him in our dating relationship, and our soon-to-be marriage.
