How We Met

03.30.18

A classic love story - we swiped right. While we were skeptical of our eight year age difference, we realized quickly that it didn't matter. On our first date we went to Santa Monica, where we talked on the beach for hours. It felt like we had already known each other for years. We had our first kiss in the ocean, and it just felt right. After the beach, we went to dinner at Barney's Beanery and really go to know each other. We walked around Santa Monica holding hands, like we were already a couple. Once we got home from our date, we texted that we already missed each other and we couldn't wait to see each other again. We've basically been inseparable ever since and can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.

The Proposal

04.16.22

We had planned a trip to one of our favorite places, Santa Barbara, to celebrate our four year anniversary. Anthony booked a beautiful hotel room overlooking the ocean and told me that he had made plans for us the next morning. He got breakfast for us and we ate on our patio, enjoying the view. Then we made our way to the harbor, where I found out that Anthony had planned a private sailboat for us for two hours. He special ordered flowers and a charcuterie board on the boat and everything was perfect. As we made our way out to sea, the waves pick up and he starts looking a little green. (maybe nerves, maybe sea sick?) The captain has him sit up higher to settle his stomach, but it doesn't work. He then proceeds to be sick over the side of the boat for a few minutes. So we decide to make our way back to the harbor to be on calmer water. Once at the harbor, Anthony asks the captain to take our picture at the front of the boat. We make our way to the front and take a few pictures and then he gets down on one knee and I ask "Are you doing this right now?!" and then he said "yes!" and then my brain blacked out. I believe I said "Yes, yeah, yes, oh my god, yes." (He did tell me later what he said which was very sweet). It was a super memorable day and a great story to tell our kids.

Adopting Lego

10.14.21

Lee wanted to spend more time with dogs, so she started volunteering at the Wags & Walks Shelter in Los Angeles. Anthony told her, "You're going to come home with a dog." To which she said, "No, no I'm only going to volunteer." Her very first day volunteering, she walked a dog named Lego, a chihuahua mix with very long legs. She thought to herself, "You can't fall in love with the first dog you meet." After volunteering for a few weeks, she fell more in love with Lego. They bonded at a doggy playgroup, where Lego sat on Lee's lap the whole time and was glued to her hip. Lee came home and told Anthony about him, and (after some convincing) he agreed to come to the shelter to meet him. When we went to the shelter, he jumped right on Lee's lap and was so excited to meet Anthony. Once we got home, he fell asleep on Anthony's lap, and Anthony looked at Lee and said, "I think this is the best dog ever." The first few months were hard, Lego had grown up on the streets of Mexico and had a difficult past. But Anthony and Lee went through training with lots of patience, and Lego has grown so much since then. Lego really challenged them to work together as a team, and has been the most rewarding thing in their lives.
