A visit to St Pete is not complete without a walk or bike along Beach Drive and down through Vinoy Park. This area is full of energy throughout the day and into the evening. Enjoy the beautiful weather and sightseeing along the path. Along the way you may spot people playing volleyball, out for a picnic, or playing tennis. Walk along the waters edge and you will probably see a dolphin swim by!
One of the top attractions in St Pete! A beautiful walk at any time of day with shopping stalls, food, a tiki bar, and incredible views of the city. It is especially beautiful at sunset and into the evening!
This local favorite market runs weekly from 9am-2pm. Browse stalls of fresh veggies, baked goods, snacks and local products while enjoying live music and people watching.
If you're going to hit the beach during your visit, this is the one we recommend. It is less touristy than the beaches north of the Don Cesar and just as beautiful. There are public restrooms, some great bars and restaurants, and even a sunset viewing deck you can enjoy without having to put a toe in the sand. We recommend stopping by the Brass Monkey for lunch - order fresh fish; Caitlin's favorite is the grouper reuban.
St Pete is home to a huge collection of murals created by artists from all over the world thanks to the annual Shine Festival. Florida CraftArt offers weekly walking tours of top works Saturday mornings from 10-11:30 a.m. The tours are limited to 20 people and they recommend booking online by 4pm the day prior. Cost: $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 6-18, free for children under 5.
If you only have time for one museum during your visit, this is the one we'd recommend. It is a world class museum with an incredible collection of Dali's most famous works. Caitlin has visited the museum in his hometown in Spain and they actually have replicas of his pieces because the originals are on display here!
This museum has a solid permanent collections and features traveling exhibitions from diverse artists. I love their Kehinde Wiley (Obama's official portrait artist) and dramatic floral paintings. Caitlin's favorite exhibition here was Gio Swaby - an incredible textile artist from the Bahamas.
This beautiful garden is a part of St Pete's history. It opened in 1903 and is one of the oldest tourist attractions in the US. The flamingos that live there are a highlight.
This unique museums is the first installation of Chihuly art in a building designed specifically for that purpose. It is small but impactful and great for a quick visit. If you fancy trying out glass blowing for yourself, there is a studio across the street at the Morean Arts Center that offers demos and classes. We made Christmas ornaments there once with friends and it was so much fun!
If you're into western art or want to escape the sunshine, this would be a great place to check out. It is a very quiet, peaceful space with a unique collection, especially considering the location.
This is one of our favorite places for lunch or drinks. They are only open Weds-Sun and have a limited catch-of-the-day menu. The vibe makes you feel like you are on an island somewhere and not in downtown St Pete.
This is a local favorite casual restaurant serving up cuban cuisine. Kyle likes the lechon sandwich and Caitlin recommends the tempah plato. It sounds like a weird choice but it is delicious and comes with the most perfect slaw. There is also a tiny secret bar through the sliding door in the back.
One of the cutest coffee shops in St Pete. This is a great option near the waterfront. Their classics and creative coffees both hit, especially the "Cold Fashioned!"
A gorgeous coffee shop that transforms into a low-key bar in the evenings in a great, walkable area of shops.
