Andrew and Rebecca first met at a work conference in Pennsylvania in 2017. Rebecca was starting year five with the company, and her team was running the event Andrew was attending as a new professional with the organization. When Andrew asked for activities to do in his downtime, Rebecca got called out for flirting by her team and quickly looked the other direction. He lived in NY at the time, and she was living in Washington, DC so they didn't meet again until January 2018 at another work conference. As Andrew likes to tell it, it was love at second sight on the dance floor, where they danced the night away after a long few days of meetings. Andrew even ripped his pants that night he was going so hard on the dance floor! Rebecca didn't think anything of him making up silly questions to start conversation with her until the conference was over and everyone was saying their goodbyes. Andrew came to say goodbye a total of FOUR times that day, as he kept finding ways to come up to her in the crowd to restart conversation.
They began a witty text exchange in which Andrew told Rebecca he had friends in DC and was already planning to come visit. She promised him, what she thought, was a night out with other coworkers from the DC office when he visited. As it got closer to the weekend, it became clear that they really just wanted to see each other. They went for drinks on Friday night, walked around the national monuments, and had their first kiss at the Lincoln Memorial. What was meant to be a quick round of drinks, turned into a four-day date filled with adventures and good eats around DC. They went to museums, went ice skating, and ate gourmet donuts until they were ready to bust. When it came time for him to leave, neither of them wanted it to end so Andrew stayed another night. He quickly came back to DC the following weekend and the rest is history. They dated for one and a half years traveling between NY and DC while Rebecca finished her Master's degree in DC.
In July 2019, the two moved in together in NY and a few days later Rebecca left for a work trip. Unbeknownst to her, Andrew flew down to Florida to see Rebecca's parents to ask for their permission. In August, they went on a Disney cruise as a last "hurrah" before Andrew began his Masters in NY. On the very first night of the cruise, Andrew proposed on the grand staircase just before dinner (when everyone was out on the ship!). The entire ship broke out cheering and even Mickey Mouse was there to celebrate! When we arrived back from the cruise, both families had come in to surprise us. It's been a magical experience since day one we can't wait to celebrate with you!
