In 2019, we graduated medical schools in completely different parts of the country. Jordan reached out to all of the incoming intern class of Harnett Health, in Dunn, NC where we both "matched" (the process by which medical residents are assigned training positions). Sara was immediately smitten over texts back and forth and recounts thinking "OMG, could I end up dating this guy?!" after a few short and fun conversations. Putting this aside, thinking, surely, she was getting ahead of herself, Sara and Jordan made cross country moves from Arizona(Sara) and Colorado(Jordan) and arrived in NC to start their intern years of residency. Our respective apartments were coincidentally and serendipitously located in the same apartment complex, not but a pair of stairwells and a couple doors down. We arranged a meet, only a few days after moving in, when Sara's parents were set to leave after helping her get settled in. A quick morning meet over coffee turned into an afternoon touring the hotspots of downtown Raleigh, which turned into a multi-city, miles-long wild goose chase to find our take out order from a local restaurant, which turned in to Sara losing Jordan's credit card on our first "date," which ultimately led to the most blissful romance either of us has ever known. We were both eager to tell one another we were in love and in the Fall of 2020, in the enchanting forests of Asheville, NC we committed to supporting and loving one another and have been inseparable ever since!
Jordan planned for a surprise proposal during a hiking and camping trip in the mountains outside of Buena Vista, Colorado that would include the soon to be betrothed and a few family and friends. Jordan attempted to keep it a surprise, but while Sara was driving him to the airport to fly to Colorado, he realized he forgot the ring and was so distraught he couldn't keep it a secret. Requiring her help, Jordan embarrassingly asked Sara to bring her own engagement ring to the proposal as she would not be arriving for a few days yet. With the surprise of the proposal completely ruined, Jordan was elated when he called Mr. Caddigan a few days later to ask for Sara's hand in marriage; to his delight, not only did Mr. Caddigan say "yes," but Jordan and Mr. & Mrs. Caddigan arranged for Sara's parents to make a surprise appearance at the campsite near the proposal hike. For Sara, knowing about the proposal did not make it any less perfect. However, when the surprise was revealed, Sara was beside herself with joy to share such a lovely moment with her family as well as Jordan's family and friends from Colorado.
