Note that some ferries are direct, others make stops. If you are arriving the day of the wedding, we recommend you select the morning ferry as the boats can run late. Drive On: Washington State Ferries recommends you show up at least 45-60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. IMPORTANT: vehicles that do not check in at the toll booth at least 30 minutes ahead of the reserved sailing time will lose their reserved space and must travel standby.

Reservation openings are released in tiers. For Summer 2019 (which includes our wedding date): -1st Tier space is released at 7:00 a.m. PT April 23. -2nd Tier: An additional 30% of vessel space for standard vehicles is released at 7:00 a.m. PT 2 weeks before each specific sailing date. -3rd Tier: The final 30% of space for standard vehicles is released at 7:00 a.m. PT 2 days before each specific sailing date.
Walk on the ferry:
Walk On: The ferry wait on weekends for drivers can be two hours or more, so many people decide to drive to the Anacortes ferry terminal, park at the terminal, and then walk on to the ferry. Shuttles and taxis run throughout the day from Friday Harbor (disembarkation) to Roche Harbor. No reservation is required for walk-on passengers.
