When Hailey's family moved to Lakeville in 2013, they were introduced to the Ziemer family through some mutual friends. Ben was a senior in high school and Hailey was a sophomore. It wasn't until two years later, 2015, when Hailey was a senior in high school and Ben was a sophomore at North Dakota State University when things changed. Hailey was in class in one of the computer labs in the school when she looked up and saw a picture that Ben had made in Graphic Art and Design class his senior year. She took a picture of it and sent it to him. This is where it all began! They continued to text and eventually Ben asked her out on a date over Thanksgiving of 2015. The rest was history!

Ben and Hailey got engaged at their apartment on October 19, 2018. Hailey thought Ben was still at work, when it turned out he left work early, picked up a dozen red roses with one white rose, put the ring inside the white rose, and hid in their friend's apartment waiting for Hailey to get home. Once he knew she was home, he came and knocked on the door, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him! Of course, she said yes- well, after a few minutes when he reminded Hailey that she had to answer! She thought it was just assumed haha :)
