The first time we saw each other, we were at a poetry workshop held on the UWF campus in the Commons. The only things exchanged at that time were smiles and head nods. Later that semester, we both just so happened to be in the Music Hall on campus at the same time with some other close friends in what would go on to become our first "Jam Session". We would be in the Hall singing and creating deep into the early hours of the morning. The group would grow in number and life long bonds would be formed with all those who attended. In those sessions, a spark and infatuation was birthed and the rest, as they say, is history :)

Thapelo was on her way home for what she thought would be another normal visit with family and friends. Little did she know, Tilden had been working tirelessly to set up a unforgettable surprise proposal in the exact location and room where they shared their first true connection. Tilden convinced Thapelo that he needed to stop by the University to pick up some items from his office and asked if she felt like stopping by the Music Hall for old times sake. When they entered, the song, "When I First Saw You" (one of Thapelo's favorites) poetically serenaded the room, and they were both greeted by a host of family and friends. Tilden recited a very moving and heartfelt proposal and Thapelo accepted becoming the future Mrs. Whitfield! We're so honored and excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
