While we love kids, please leave them at home for the wedding. We want to ensure everyone has a great, carefree time. This is your time as parents to let loose! Thankfully, there are validated and trusted babysitters in the Tahoe area if needed - https://laketahoesitters.com/ http://www.sierrasitters.com/ https://www.allaboutkidstahoe.com/
Tahoe is an ENDLESS playground! Palisades Tahoe is a ski resort during the winter, but here and the surrounding area is a mecca for hiking, trail running, biking (mountain and road), boating, swimming during the summer and fall. few of the MANY popular, fun hikes: - Shirley Canyon (hike up the back side of Palisades Tahoe, along a rushing river and waterfalls). Can hike up to High Camp (and even take a dip in Shirley lake) and take the tram down, very beautiful surrounding scenery. - Take the Tram up to high camp and hike around the top of Palisades Tahoe - 5 lakes (this is near Alpine Meadows, the sister mountain to Palisades Tahoe) - Sugar Bowl to Palisades Tahoe - around 16 miles from Donner Pass to the ski resort, incredible scenery as you hike along the ridge lines (we got engaged on this one!) Feeling more adventurous? Try the Via Ferrata on Palisades Tahoe Cliff faces. Fun way to scramble/hike up the mountain. https://www.palisadestahoe.com/events-and-activities/activity-finder/tahoe-via-ferrata Mountain biking - can rent at one of the many bike shops in the region (https://www.olympicbikeshop.com/articles/bike-rentals-pg191.htm) Flume trail - classic trail along the mountainside overlooking the vast Lake. can rent and take a shuttle from: https://flumetrailtahoe.com/ Tahoe Rim trail Northstar downhill bike park Enjoy the lake! Go to one of the many beaches along Lake Tahoe shore and/or Donner Lake
Given we are in a more rural area, public transportation is limited. While Uber and Lyft have increased their presence in the basin, I would not depend solely on them for rides. TART - Transit/bus for the Tahoe region https://tahoetruckeetransit.com/ Consider renting a car or carpooling with others (this also gives more flexibility for exploring the surrounding area and mountains!) If renting a vehicle, typically there is no snow on the roads in September, so you can likely get by without 4WD.
