Both the ceremony and the reception are being held at the Honeymoon House on Pebble Beach Lake Superior. The venue is large home and property with a private beach at 5064 Highway 61, Lutsen, Minnesota. Finding the house from the road: When you're driving north on Highway 61, you'll pass the Clearview General Store, Post office, and other shops on your left, and later a brown sign for the Caribou Trail. The house is located right next to Mile Marker 93. There is a short railing along the right-hand side of the road, then 2 driveways. It's the one with the Fire Number 5064.
Outdoors! Weather permitting, the ceremony will be lakeside on a rocky beach, and the reception will be in a wooded clearing under a tent.
In early September, the average high temperatures are 60-66 degrees; average lows are around 50 degrees. We will have heaters in the tent if needed. We recommend dressing in layers, as the weather along Superior can surprise you!
We love your kids so much (and we're not even lying!), but we've decided to have only our nephews and niece at the ceremony. We want everyone to be able to unwind and relax with us!
100%. (Just kidding, but we wish.)
Let one of us know. We're happy to help arrange carpools or group transportation.
Talk to us! We're more than happy to help you figure out all the details.
There are several options: -There will be limited parking on the venue property. -You can park on the side of the MN-61, right off from the driveway. -Last resort: One mile up the road from the venue is Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church address is 5307 Highway 61. They have kindly agreed to let our guests park there as needed. Just let one of us know if you need to park there, and we'll have someone shuttle you the last mile.
Unfortunately, no. Most places up North don't allow room blocks. But if you're having a hard time finding a place to stay within your budget, please don't hesitate to let us know!
Wear whatever you feel comfortable and fabulous in! That being said, we do recommend dressing in layers, as the weather along the North Shore can surprise you. And we advise against heels—the ceremony is on a rocky beach and the reception is in the yard.
Your invite envelope will indicate who's invited, but feel free to reach out with questions!
Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we'll be happy to work with you to make sure you have something delicious to eat!
The first 2 hours of the drive (between the Twin Cities and Duluth) is a straight shot up I-35 N. As you come upon Duluth, the highway will crest a hill, and you'll get the most gorgeous first look at Lake Superior. We highly recommend a stop in Duluth, both to refuel and to explore the beautiful port city at the southwestern tip of Superior. Please visit our "Things To Do" page for recommendations on what to see and do in Duluth. When you're ready to leave Duluth, we highly recommend you follow Scenic Highway 61. It follows the western shoreline of Superior and is absolutely stunning. There are lots of stop-offs for beaches, waterfalls, trails, and a couple of lighthouses. We've also highlighted some of our favorite stops along the way on our "Things To Do" page. Please do not hesitate to ask us if you have any questions before or during your travels. We know the area incredibly well and would be thrilled to help!
PIVOT! Our original plan was a sit-down dinner at The Angry Trout, but they were nervous about a large party on a vacation-season Friday in a tiny town. We get it! So instead, we're all going to gather at Voyageur Brewing Company. It'll be easier to mingle there anyway! And the beer is great! Voyageur serves standard brewery fare, which we'll provide, but if you decide you want something different at any point, you'll be in walking distance to several restaurants, including The Angry Trout and Gunflint Tavern. Please dress for the weather, as we may be on the gorgeous rooftop patio overlooking Lake Superior!
