Travel Note
There are two ways to get to Bainbridge Island from SEA-TAC Airport. The first is using a rental car you can drive south around Tacoma and up the western peninsula. Its about an 80 minute drive. It is possible to get from the airport to Bainbridge by using public transit and the ferry, but a rental car will allow easier transit to and from western Washington. For those coming in from Seattle without a car, we recommend walking onto the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry! To get to Seattle, you can take the light rail ($3.00 from airport to downtown) or get a cab from the Airport to the Ferry. It is about $10 round trip to be a walk on passenger from Seattle to Bainbridge. If you are traveling without a rental car, please reach out to Ben and he can help provide information that will make your travel easier! Please note we do not recommend taking a car onto the ferry. To get a spot to bring your car onto the ferry sometimes can take several hours waiting in line (where at that point it would be much quicker to drive around). There is one Uber/Lyft on the island and very limited taxi service during the busy summer season. We recommend booking ahead of time or planning to carpool with someone else. There is also "Viking Cab Co" which offers 24-hour service, and can be booked in advance from the Bainbridge Ferry terminal.
Hotel
GuestHouse Poulsbo is about a ten minute drive from the reception. This would be more of a budget stay hotel that is a mile away from the cute downtown of Poulsbo WA. There are also a few more hotels available in this area. If staying in Poulsbo, it is recommended to have a rental car. If you stay in Poulsbo definitely visit the Liberty Bay Park (and maybe see some seals lounging in the sun) and stop by Sluy's Bakery for delicious baked good!
Hotel
The Clearwater Casino would be a more luxurious stay! It is less than 5 minute drive to the Teiche home, and has ample parking. Also has good food and gambling if you are so inclined.
Hotel
For those flying into Seattle, and not renting a car, we recommend booking at this location. It is walkable from the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry. From this location it is possible to take public transit to West Port Madison Rd (from there it is a few minute walk to the Teiche home/reception).
Travel Note
Several of our guests have already contacted us and said they have found Airbnb/Vrbo accommodations around the Bainbridge and Poulsbo area. There are still a fair number of reasonable priced rentals available, some on the water, and even one Airbnb that is still available is even built to look like Hobbit hole!
