We went on our first date, right at the tail end of Auburn's Spring semester 2018. In fact, since we were in the same major, about half of that date was spent studying together for a final exam (we won't say who got the better score). Matt was staying in Auburn to take summer classes, and I was headed to Alpharetta, GA for an internship. After a second date of helping me shove an entire dorm's worth of furniture into my Elantra for the drive home, I turned back to him. This guy I'd only started talking to 10 days ago, who I knew so little about, but who I wanted to know more. "So can we be, like, tell-our-parents level official?" Never mind that I didn't know his parents names yet. "Uh... yeah!" We laughed about it, and that summer we'd take turns driving to visit each other. I have since learned his parent's names (Hi Tony! Hi Barbie!), and we've gone from college students, to COVID shut-ins, to puppy parents, to now co-owners of our first home together. In April of 2022, we took a trip to Seaside Florida. After taking some pictures together on the beach, I turn around from picking up my phone to see Matt on one knee with a ring in his hand. After some initial shock and many I love you's, he's still on one knee, smiling and looking at me. "Aren't you supposed to ask me a question?" That jogged his memory and we had another good laugh about it. For once we slowed things down, and enjoyed our time as fiancées, but now it's time to make it official! We look forward to seeing everyone on our big day in Charleston.
