Beza proposed in the clear and blue waters off of a secluded beach in Turks and Caicos, where the water was warm enough, and shallow enough for him to kneel without fear of being carried off by a wave. Believe it or not, the proposal came as a surprise - at least to one of us. Although it had been planned for months, and as excited as we were to celebrate our second anniversary in island paradise, we thought very hard about cancelling this trip. Just days before our flight, the weather channel warned of devastating hurricanes in the area, perhaps our first clue that this engagement would be no walk in the park. But ever the optimist, Beza was certain the storm would miss us, and it did. Then, six months into our engagement, the whole world shut down. Uncertain of most things, we moved in together to a cute apartment in Inglewood, half way between Taylor’s grandmother and Beza’s mother. If the new normal was a life at home, we quickly realized there wasn’t another person in this world that we would rather be locked in with. Trying to plan a wedding this past year has taught us to value and to be grateful for any time that we get to spend in person with one another. For every version of our wedding that we have planned, and cancelled, and reconsidered, only to cancel again - we’ve learned to appreciate drive-by graduations, backyard birthday parties, family trips to the mountains, and empty church christenings. You cannot imagine how excited we are to marry one another on March 6th, and how equally disappointed we are that we cannot celebrate in person with all of our family and friends. And while it’s not the wedding we imagined, we are ever optimistic that it will be the perfect day. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. We look forward to the day we get to celebrate with you in person. x
