Richard and Tatum met in 2018 during their studies at The University of Findlay. After playing football for 4 years at Boston College, Richard transferred to Findlay for his fifth year of football and to complete his Master's degree. Tatum was attending the university for her undergraduate studies. The two were introduced by mutual friends. Although their relationship was not started immediately, Richard and Tatum spent the next 8 months getting to know one another and developing a strong friendship. As Richard's time in Findlay came to an end, he knew that he could not leave without Tatum by his side. They started dating shortly after he moved back to Detroit, in July of 2019. Richard and Tatum spent the next few years growing their relationship while living in different states. Richard began his professional career in medical sales, while Tatum completed her Master's degree in Behavioral Psychology. They traveled many miles (and spent a lot of money on gas) each month to be together. Neither distance, nor a global pandemic, could stand in between their love. After 3 years of long distance, Tatum at last moved to Grand Rapids to be with Richard in July of 2022. Shortly after finally living in the same city, Richard asked Tatum to marry him at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Richard chose this location because of Tatum's love for art and history, and of course, his love for his hometown. Richard and Tatum are thrilled to start the next chapter of their lives together as they prepare to get married this September. The couple will be married in the city where their story first began in Findlay, Ohio. Please join us in celebrating their love!
