In January 2016, Brooke quit her short-lived, first job-outta-college as a recruiter. As a going-away gift, her company gave her tickets to attend a Texas Rodeo at the Oakland Coliseum. An oxymoron if I've ever heard one! At the time, one of Brooke's friends was casually dating a guy who lived nearby. Brooke, having spare tickets to the rodeo, invited the two of them and decided to open the invitation to this guy's friends as well. Little did she know, this open invitation would result in her meeting the love of her life that night. On the way to the rodeo, Brooke and Tate sat next to each other on the smelly old Bart train while their friends conversed. Tate told her he worked in Product Management, in which she replied "oh, so you're in Marketing!" They did not speak much at the actual event, as everyone was taken back by the fact there were cowboys riding massive bulls in the middle of the Oakland Coliseum... Despite the peculiar circumstance, Tate immediately took a liking to Brooke. After the rodeo ended, Tate walked Brooke back to the train while all their friends ran ahead due to the heavy rainfall. Tate stayed by her side, holding an umbrella over her head, and asked her questions to get to know her more. Later that night, the party continued on at Tate's house and it was time for a Taco Bell run. Unfortunately, they released their Uber driver early without realizing that the only option to order was in the drive-through! Being the determined couple they are, Tate and Brooke decided to rebel against status quo and physically walk through the drive-through to order their food. Thus, it was there, standing in the drive-through of Taco Bell in the pouring rain, that Tate and Brooke shared their first kiss! 5 years later, Brooke and Tate purchased their first home together in Walnut Creek, California with the dream of renting it out one day and moving to London. Unbeknownst to them, in a year and a half's time, this dream would become their reality. On November 18th, 2022, at a beautiful winery in Paso Robles, Tate dropped down to one knee and asked Brooke to marry him. Just 10 weeks later, they uprooted their lives, said goodbye to their loved ones, and took off for the United Kingdom. Brooke and Tate are ecstatic you can join them in the Mediterranean this September to seal the deal as lifelong partners. LET'S DO THIS!
