Mason & Taryn have been friends since infancy. Their fathers, both in the Air Defense Artillery with the US Army, were stationed at Kaiserslautern at the same time. They were born in the same hospital in Germany 5 months apart. They then transferred to El Paso, TX within months of each other as well. As preschoolers together, Taryn told her mother she was going to marry Mason. There's a story told about 4 year old Taryn getting swim lessons and refusing to put her face in the water. The instructor, in an effort to coerce her to put her face in asked, "Do you have a boyfriend?" To which, Taryn replied, "Yes, his name is Mason." But when the instructor asked, "Don't you want Mason to be proud of you?" She replied, "Mason loves me just the way I am." The instructor then refunded the money. Moving around with the military sometimes it's hard to maintain friendships. But sometimes there's a connection that just can't be severed. When Taryn's family ended up in the DC area in 1981, Mason's family was already there. Friendship was renewed, and even when Taryn's family moved about 40 miles further south, Christmas cards were exchanged. In 8th grade, Taryn and Mason started writing to each other, maintaining their friendship on their own. They ended up going to college near each other and spent many weekends playing Trivial Pursuit and hanging out on the weekends Taryn wasn't with her then-boyfriend, Mike. When Taryn and Mike got engaged, she asked Mason to be an usher in her wedding. A year and a half later, Mike & Taryn attended Mason's wedding to Amy. Time goes on and when they found themselves both single again, decided 42 years of friendship was enough and perhaps they should explore a romantic relationship. Mason proposed at Biltmore on 12/27/17 with their children present. While it took a few years to work out the details, they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. They will be married at Brent Manor Vineyards 10/29/2022. **Masks Encouraged**
