Brandon and Victoria first met back in 2014 while both attending the University of Calgary. They met through a mutual friend, Kyle Powers, who introduced them one lunch break. They chatted, laughed, and soon after that spent all their free time together.

It was December 12, 2019, which happens to be Brandon's birthday. Victoria had planned to take Brandon and Peter, Brandon's father, out for Brandon's birthday dinner that evening. A few days before that, Brandon mentioned to Victoria that they should go see the Christmas Lights in Confederation Park after his birthday dinner. Victoria being the Christmas freak, thought it was a great idea! After dinner, they started their walk through the park and looked at the lights. While on their walk, Victoria noticed Brandon acting a little strange, but again, didn't think anything of it. In the park near a large tree covered with white Christmas lights, Brandon took Victoria's hand, and got down on one knee, and the rest is history!
