Not black. :) Curacao is a very colorful tropical island, so bright colors are preferred. The climate is hot with May temperatures running 80-90 degrees. Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors on the sand and on a stone surface. You can bring cute shoes, but it would be smart to have some flip flops handy as well!
• Patience: Island time is real, so please take a big chill pill before you arrive. • Pack List: Passport, license, swimsuit, sunscreen, snorkel gear, water shoes, bug spray, and sunglasses. • Power Plug Adapter: Most Avila rooms come with one standard US plug, but you may want to bring a power plug adapter so you have more than one usable outlet. • Digital Immigration Card: As a foreign visitor, you will need to fill in a digital immigration card or temporary visa to enter Curacao. Most airline companies distribute these well in advance during the flight to Curacao. You can also fill one out online before you depart via this website: https://dicardcuracao.com/portal
Someone from the hotel will reach out to you by email in advance of your flight to collect your flight information and confirm the shuttle service is booked.
If you take advantage of the free Avila shuttle you do not need to rent a car, but if you want to rent a car there are plenty of options. Airport - Car rentals are available at the airport. Hotel - When we visited, we rented a car for a day of exploring the island for $78 through Plusify Rentals, which delivered the car to Avila. It was less than Budget, which has rentals available in the Avila lobby. If you are interested in renting a car with Plusify, please let us know and we will do our best to make sure we have one reserved.
Your phone will work if you have international service included. If you don't, you can use wifi when it's available. Almost all of the businesses on the island communicate with customers through WhatsApp, so if you don't have that you may want to download that app before you depart.
Yes! Curaco is a safe island. We felt very comfortable walking from the resort to the capital. Precautions against petty theft should be taken as with any travel, but you should not worry about being attacked or robbed.
No, Avila does not offer any child care services.
