It was June 2018. Sydney's cousin was marrying her high school sweetheart, and Sydney was a bridesmaid. Cameron, friends with the groom since high school, was also in the wedding. After some matchmaking and meddling on the bride and grooms end, Cameron and Sydney were paired to walk together in the wedding. Sydney, unsure of what interest an Oklahoma guy could have in a California girl, was soon won over by Cameron's relentless pursuit and witty humor during the rehearsal dinner and wedding day. For the remainder of Sydney's stay in Tulsa (just three more days) they texted non-stop, went on two dates, and Cam even met the parents!

When it came time for Sydney to head back home it was obvious the connection between the two was special. They decided to try long distance, unsure of how things would work out. One month later Sydney bought a ticket back to Tulsa to spend more time with Cameron and his family for a week. After that, it was clear the two of them were going to try their best to make this work. Over the next 3 years the two facetimed non-stop, visited each other as much as they could between Sydney's college soccer schedule and Cam's college and coaching schedule, and even a global pandemic. In May of 2021, Sydney moved to Oklahoma to live with her cousins and begin her Masters program at the University of Tulsa. Long distance was officially over! Over the next two years the couple was inseparable, and Sydney quickly fell in love with the city of Tulsa and even more with this Okie boy.

On May 6th, 2023 Sydney finally graduated, and she had all of her family there to celebrate, as well as her three best friends from college. Little did Sydney know Cameron was scheming behind the scenes to make sure all of her favorite people were around for TWO big events going on that weekend. After the graduation everyone gathered outside for pictures. Sydney, on top of the world, was unaware of anything going on around her except for the fact that it seemed like her boyfriend was ignoring her (he was very nervous). Cam and Syd walked to the front of the TU library, a place where they had shared a number of meals over the last few years with a perfect view of the Tulsa skyline, to take some pictures. Cam, stating a tag was bothering him, reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a beautiful ring box with personalized details handmade by his grandpa. Finally, it all clicked for Sydney. He asked the question, with their family and friends watching, and the moment they had dreamed about since their days of facetime call dates had finally come to fruition!
