Question

Why New Orleans?

Answer

We wanted a wedding with historical charm, beautiful architecture, and natural appeal where our guests from all over the country could come and experience New Orleans. You can't beat the food, music, or vibe of New Orleans and we guarantee it'll be an experience!

Question

Is New Orleans safe?

Answer

New Orleans is a very touristy city with a large homeless population and presence. Staying aware of 'tourist traps' and pick pockets is important but overall, you'll find the people very pleasant to be around!

Question

Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and reception will be inside Hotel Peter and Paul’s Historic Church and but the New Orleans Second Line Parade will take place in the streets of New Orleans. In the event that the weather forecast calls for rain, we suggest umbrellas for the Second Line.

Question

What is the weather like in New Orleans?

Answer

The weather in NOLA can be unpredictable! September is a hot month in New Orleans. Based on historical data, the temperature doesn’t stray far below the 80s for the entire month. In September, nights have an average temperature of the mid-70s, only decreasing slightly at the end of the month to the high 60s. That being said, late September brings about slightly brisk nights and an excitement for fall activities in New Orleans. It is best to pack clothing that is light and breathable as September continues to be very warm in New Orleans. Lightweight layers will help you stay dry and seem to be the best for those warm and humid days. Later in the month, a few mornings can be on the cool side so packing a light sweater or two could come in handy. Bring your umbrella and a couple of pairs of good walking shoes!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Wear what makes you feel fabulous, and that includes comfortable shoes! Since we will be doing the Second Line Parade immediately after the ceremony, please wear something you feel comfortable walking/dancing around in. High heels or thin heels are discouraged as there will be some walking and pavement and cobblestone streets can be uneven. Thicker heels or flats are perfect.

Question

Is the ceremony going to be Unplugged? (Can I take photos at the ceremony?)

Answer

We are requesting an unplugged ceremony so while you are welcome to have your cell phone on you, we ask that you put it on silent and please refrain from pictures during the ceremony. Our photographer will be sure to capture all of the important moments! You're welcome (and encouraged) to use your phones during the Second Line and Reception and share them with us on social media and through messages.

Question

What is a Second Line?

Answer

A Second Line is a parade traditionally arranged for funerals or weddings in NOLA. Police lead the parade and ensure the route is cleared of vehicles to make way for the brass band and ENTIRE guest list to dance through the streets celebrating the newlyweds! There will be a little walking so comfortable shoes are recommended as the streets and sidewalks may be uneven! New Orleans is an old city and some streets are still the original cobblestones! Guests will have favors to carry (and throw!) as well as a beverage to sip on, so plan to 'travel light'. The second line should take 30minutes but the memories will last a lifetime! Feel free to use your phones and document the memories, you're the life of the party and travelers will stop to watch and sometimes even join YOU! A good second line needs energetic guests and we KNOW you know how to party!

Question

Will There Be Assigned Seating for the Reception

Answer

The short answer is no there will not be assigned seating for our reception. New Orleans receptions are typically not seated dinners, but consist of heavy passed items at the start of the reception, open action stations and buffets, with emphasis on lots of food options, lots of beverages, and a highly dynamic and social atmosphere that allows guests to move freely about the reception space. Seating is left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables. The bride and groom have their first dance near the beginning of their reception, opening the dance floor immediately for the guests' enjoyment, and to take full advantage of the hired entertainment. We invite you to walk around and chat with friends and family throughout the evening. We also invite you to spend as much time on the dance floor with us as you possibly can!

Question

What if I have a food allergy?

Answer

While we have tried to make our menu all-inclusive to accommodate our vegetarian and gluten-free guests, if there are any special allergies or dietary requirements, please feel free to contact us and we will be sure to take care of you!

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

In order to allow all guests, including parents, a night of relaxation, we have chosen for our wedding and wedding events to be an adults only occasion.

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

Travel to and from the airport and wedding will need to be arranged by each guest. Uber/Lyft are readily available and easy to use! The French Quarter is most easily accessible by foot, if you are staying in one of the French Quarter hotels, so make sure to bring comfortable shoes if you plan on exploring!
