If you want to know the story of how Susan & Travis fell in love, well, it depends on who you ask. Susan will tell you that she was forced to go to dinner at a friend's house to meet "this guy", while Travis will say it was the exchange of tacky christmas sweater pictures that really got him interested. Regardless, they will both tell you that it happened during the COLDEST winter they've ever experienced in Louisiana (Travis's favorite). After being initially set up by mutual friends, Susan & Travis had to see each other again. They will both admit that they each secretly knew that this "was it" after that first weekend, though they wouldn't say that out loud until years later. During that first year, Travis was finishing grad school & Susan was awaiting her first foster child placement. They were both independent people who found a way to include each other in their busy lives. After only three months of dating, a little foster nugget was introduced into their lives. Susan & Travis got to experience parenthood early in their relationship - this was a challenge that pushed their love to grow quickly & set deep roots that they know will later help them weather any storm that comes. In many ways, Susan & Travis's relationship is picturesque with festive holiday attire, perfect vacation spots & laughter in every photo, but they know their love has withstood many hardships of navigating the foster system, losing loved ones, & planning a wedding/ buying a home during a pandemic. They know that this juxtaposition is what will get them through life as a married couple to take on the mountains & valleys of life together. Susan & Travis are so excited to share this special time with all of their friends & family. They plan to continue their life together with many house renovations, travel opportunities & hopefully little ones running everywhere. Here's to a million more tacky Christmas sweaters & laughing photos, pandemic or not, let's do this thing!
