We met way back in the olden days of high school, in 2011. We both attended the same band (/orchestra) camp at Fort Hays University. We stayed in touch throughout the years, and in 2013, only moments before graduation, we went on a date. And the rest is history.
Steven had the ingenious idea of proposing at midnight, right on the 6 year anniversary of dating. He planned a night for us to go to our favorite karaoke stop, and secretly snuck in a song for the two of us to sing together, "Suddenly Seymour" from Little Shop of Horrors. Romantic af. We would sing together, have a great time, and then BAM! RING! Buuuuut that's not what happened. Instead, I was tired and miserable and wanting to go home and sleep (adulting, amirite?). Despite his hardest efforts, we went home early. But true to his plan, right at midnight, he whipped out that ring, "I don't want to date you anymore, will you marry me?" Obviously I said yes, but only after 5 minutes standing there going, "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god"
