We’re Getting Married!

Met: July 24, 2020 First Date: July 25, 2020 She said yes: May 6, 2022 Mr. & Mrs. D'Arcy: May 25, 2024

It all started at a bonfire. Ashley was playing wing woman for her friend Rachel because Rachel liked Mike's brother Tommy. Ashley told Rachel she would sit by Mike so Mike wouldn't interfere with Rachel getting to know Tommy. Through conversation, Mike and Ashley found out they had a lot in common. They started bonding over outer space, stars, sleep paralysis, and the outdoors. Quickly, Ashley said, “I would totally go to Cherry Springs tomorrow if you wanted to go.” (For those that don’t know, Cherry Springs is the darkest place on the East Coast known for star gazing.) They exchanged numbers and to Ashley’s surprise, Mike texted her the following afternoon saying he was still up for Cherry Springs. Basically, two strangers drove three hours north to star gaze and camp. (We each secretively texted our best friends letting them know where we were going in case this "stranger" was dangerous.) Ashley brought conversation cards on the road trip in case there was not much to talk about, however, the conversation never stopped. The following week, Ashley was house/dog sitting for one of her friends and it ended up being Mike’s neighbor! Soooo Ashley and Mike were neighbors for a week and the rest is history.

Leading up to Mike’s 30th birthday, he told Ashley all he wanted was to go to Cherry Springs with her. The evening of Mike’s birthday it was pouring rain. Mike told Ashley, "For some reason, I have this weird desire to say I was at Cherry Springs on my birthday, can we please go for like 5 minutes?! " Of course Ashley agreed and they drove 20 minutes to the star gazing field. Mike led Ashley to the spot where their first star gazing date was. Ashley continued having no idea that Mike was about to propose. When Mike said, "This is where our story began and this is where I want it to continue... Ashley finally caught on to what was happening! Mike got down on one knee with Ashley screaming, "Are you serious?! and he proposed in the pouring rain, under the stars of their first date. All this time she was convinced he didn't even have the ring yet! Let the #DowntobeD’Arcy begin! #D’Stumped
